Drew was born on October 17, 1995 at Halifax Hospital. He attended local schools: Tomoka Elementary, Ormond Middle School, and Seabreeze High School. He graduated from Killeen High School in Killeen, TX in 2014, and returned to Florida soon after. He loved the beach and the ocean, having grown up with a passion for fishing. Drew was born on October 17, 1995 at Halifax Hospital. He attended local schools: Tomoka Elementary, Ormond Middle School, and Seabreeze High School. He graduated from Killeen High School in Killeen, TX in 2014, and returned to Florida soon after. He loved the beach and the ocean, having grown up with a passion for fishing. He was active in the Cub Scouts in his youth. He was also a member of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corp; Daytona Division finishing with a rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. He played the flute in 5th grade, and the trumpet all through middle and high school earning awards at the county level. He auditioned and was accepted to Stetson University for a summer brass band camp two years in a row. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Ormond Beach and in the youth group. He was an avid reader that especially loved Stephen King books. He also enjoyed weight lifting and training. He is predeceased by his great-grandfather Herbert Bernhardt; step-grandmother Patricia Pettit; and Opa Robert Meinhold. He is survived by his mother and step-father Lisa and Matthew Pettit; his sisters Evelyn and Katharine Pettit of Valley, AL, his grandmother Lynne Meinhold, his step-grandfather Thomas Pettit, and his uncle Timothy Meinhold of Ormond Beach. A memorial service will be celebrated 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, Ormond Beach. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in his memory to SPN Family Crisis Center and /or Faith Lutheran Church, Ormond Beach.
